Recruitment – Pre-Employment Screening
The Problem
Prior to utilising Strategic Health, the client conducted their own Pre-Employment Screening. However, they noticed they had an increase in injuries and absenteeism from recent full-time staff. The cost of the assessments were greater than $400 and did not specifically assess the demands required for each task onsite.
Strategic Health’s Solution
We developed a customised assessment tool that analysed specific activities that were relevant to the client workload. This was coupled with analysis of their medical records and implementing vision and hearing screening tests to deliver a complete assessment of the employees. From the Pre-Employment Screening, 30 employees were chosen for full time roles.
Client Results
From the detailed Pre-Employment Screening, the client experienced:
In 12 months, there were no injuries from any of the 30 new staff
Largest drop in absenteeism for the past 12 months, from greater than 7% to 4.1%
Retention rate of workers improved by 60% for factory employees
An increase in productivity in 2019 by 5-10%, with less staff required and no injuries experienced
Retention – Early Prevention Program
Strategic Health completed Pre-Employment Screenings for a manufacturing client site.
The Problem
The client noticed a significant spike in injuries with over 50 open WorkCover claims nationally, incurring insurance premiums in the millions of dollars and poor insurance ratings. This was also reflected in an increase in absenteeism and poor work culture.
Strategic Health’s Solution
We developed a program to provide onsite physiotherapy and setup an early intervention framework customised for multi-city sites. We delivered a constant presence onsite each week to ensure management controls were put in place to service the client’s needs. Our services included onsite treatments, warm up exercises before work, real time manual handling observation and correction and strength and conditioning training for employees.
Client Results
From the Early Intervention Program, the client experienced:
100% staff engagement in the program within a month, with all staff attending baseline testing
Changes to how injuries were dealt and reported within 6 months
A drop in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) from 150 per year to 19 per year within 18 months
A drop-in WorkCover claims from 50 to 8 within 18 months
A savings of greater than $2,000,000 due to reduced injuries and WorkCover claims yearly
Income support costs reduced by 70% due to reduction of injuries
A reduction in insurance premiums within 3 years

Development – Proactive Onsite Physical Health Checks
Strategic Health completed Proactive Onsite Physical Health Checks for a cold storage client.
The Problem
The client wanted to further improve their occupational health to ensure casual and existing employees did not sustain any injuries as part of their work.
Strategic Health’s Solution
We developed a Proactive Onsite Physical Health Checks tool to assess specific parameters of employees work tasks. The assessment was used to identify any individual weakness that could result in injuries with the current inherent requirements.
